The Buchanan YMCA and the National Chinese Wushu Association are proud to sponsor a seminar with world wushu champion Wu Di this Sunday, May 2nd from 1-4 PM.

Wu Di started training in wushu at a young age in Liaoning Province. After many years of hard work, he eventually went on to join the Beijing Wushu Team and is currently the captain of the men’s team. Known for his expressive movements, he is one of the stars of a new generation of wushu athletes. He was the Chinese National Champion in spear for 2008 and also won a gold medal for his drunken sword. Most recently, he won gold in spear at the 10th Wushu World Championships.
Wu Di is also an accomplished singer and dancer, having performed both on stage and television since a young age. He was recently a finalist in Jackie Chan’s “The Disciple” reality show competition, where he displayed his wushu mastery and acting skills. Not only that, he is also self-taught in English. He is certainly a very well-rounded performer, athlete and entertainer.

We’ve teamed up with Hunan Homes Restaurant in Chinatown and the Tzu Chi Foundation to help raise funds for the relief efforts in Taiwan for the survivors of Typhoon Morakot. The deadliest typhoon to hit Taiwan in half a century made landfall on August 8th, spawning a mudslide which buried an entire village. Thousands have been left homeless and hundreds are still missing.
