Please join us at our annual showcase of talent among the Chinese Martial Arts community. The tournament will be held this year on March 24th, 2012 at the Haas Pavilion at the University of California- Berkeley campus.

CMAT is an international display of Chinese martial arts such as contemporary wushu, traditional kung-fu, and tai-chi. It is the largest wushu tournament in the western hemisphere, featuring competitors and professional athletes from all over the world. Each year, the tournament has over 400 competitors of different ages and levels . CMAT runs 8 concurrent rings and has more than 30 different events over the course of one day.

Whether you are competing, cheering on a friend, VOLUNTEERING, or just interested in martial arts, come experience the competition and talent! Where else will you get a chance to see an exciting live display of martial arts in your local community?

Tillerman Tea asks, “This New Year, are you going to turn up the lanterns at home or are you going to Dim Sum?” Join Tillerman Tea as they welcome the Year of the Dragon and Chinese New Year with their annual lion dance celebration. Festivities begin with an exciting Lion Dance throughout the market, performed by the San Francisco Wushu team. Chinese lion dancing is a traditional art that originated many centuries ago, and celebrates happy, festive, and auspicious occasions. These creatures and their thundering musical accompaniment are believed to dispel evil spirits and ensure prosperity, abundance and good fortune. Following the Lion Dance, the San Francisco Guzheng Society will perform traditional Chinese music for Oxbow guests, and Tillerman Tea will provide red envelopes and dumplings throughout the afternoon, while supplies last. Enjoy a traditional Chinese New Years celebration filled with good luck and fun for the entire family. Xin nian kuai le! Happy New Year!

3rd Int’l Hunyuan Taiji Exchange Conference

Sifu and Jason recently returned from their trip to Beijing, China for the 3rd International Hunyuan Taiji Exchange Conference. The event was attended by over 1,000 competitors and coaches from around the world. Jason won gold in the Hunyuan Taiji 24 Form division. Way to go, Jason!
